Jane C. Patterson, LCSW JPatterson@DilworthPsychotherapy.com Jane Patterson received her Masters Degree in Social Work in 1975 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been licensed as a clinical social worker since 1990 and has been in private practice as a psychotherapist since that time. In addition to her work as a private practice mental health practitioner, she has worked as a social worker in a variety of settings, including a college counseling center, a rehabilitation hospital, and a child welfare agency. Jane is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and has served on its inquiry committee (reviewing ethics complaints) since 1989. She has been active in the local Mental Health Association and is a member of the Association for Imago Therapy. Jane enjoys working with adolescents and adults in individual therapy and also seeing couples working on relationship issues. She has a compassionate, caring style that begins with listening carefully to the issues and deciding together with the client on goals for treatment. She draws from a range of approaches, including cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic and psycho-educational. Jane has had extensive training in marital therapy from both John Gottman’s Research Based Model and Harville Hendrix’s Imago Relationship Therapy. Jane also does critical incident stress management and incorporates relaxation techniques and meditation into her therapy. Jane is also an active member of the community. She teaches a meditation class and tutors Cambodian students at her church. She is a volunteer with the American Red Cross, trained as a Disaster Mental Health Counselor. Jane has also been married for 25 years and has two sons. |
