            Phoebe Amante received her Masters of Clinical Social Work at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1968.  Her B.A. was also from the University of Michigan.  Her job experience has been diverse and unfailingly interesting and rewarding.  She has worked in AFDC, social services, in a large mental hospital, and community mental health before going into private practice 25 years ago.  She is licensed as a Clinical Social Worker as well as a Marital and Family Therapist by the State of North Carolina.  She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Clinical Social Workers and is a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.

            Phoebe practices individual and couples psychotherapy employing various modalities which include psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and behavioral therapy as well as relaxation and imaging.  Her work with individual clients is varied: some of the areas in which she has expertise include Depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety and Panic Disorder, and issues involving infertility and adoption.  She also works with relationship issues with premarital and married couples.  In all of the above, she has had extensive post-graduate training.
